During our young ages, we admire intelligent people. And when we turn old, we realize kindness is what matters.

Many of us would have witnessed the act of kindness from total strangers, and even we wouldn’t remember their names, but the act of kindness stays in your heart forever, and learnings from that make you a better person inside; below is one such experience.

A few years back, I used to offer car rides using a popular app, and some tend to treat you like a driver instead of a colleague or friend. One day a Sardarji requested a trip, and I accepted the ride. He was in his mid-20s and was new to Bangalore.

As most newbie favorite topic of discussion in Bangalore, he started the conversation on the Bangalore traffic. He expressed his journey of getting a job and how boring he is finding to have full engagement on it.

After a few kilometers of drive, we got stranded on traffic at the same place for 10 minutes. I lowered down the car window and saw a poor old lady with torn and dirty clothes crawling to reach another side of the road as she couldn’t walk.

Many of us, including me, were feeling pity, which is a feeling of sympathy at the suffering of someone, but the Sardar next to me showed us the state of being kind.

On seeing this without any hesitation or no second thought — Opened car door — Went near old lady — Carried her in his arms to another side of the road — Found small cardboard on the street, quickly cleaned that one and seated her on that — Came back to the car and said to me lets go. That moment felt so tiny and was super happy to be a driver for him.

Even if we are not like the Sardar who exhibited extreme kindness, let us start to shower our kindness by Holding the door open for someone you don’t know or communicate via universal language smile to some unknown person on the lift.

All of us needn’t leave an invention, but we could definitely leave a mark of kindness to the world.
